It recommended that I reset the pop settings on gmail so it would be able to index all of my mail. What I didn’t realize was that it would do so in a way that google considers abusive… Here are the logs from Larry’s indexer:

Every 2 - 3 minutes it was grabbing 300 messages! I don’t delete from gmail, so I have thousands of messages in my inbox (not sure if this thing is indexing spam too, in which case there are 10’s of thousands of messages…)

So I got the infimous “Lockdown in Sector 4″ Gmail screen *(see below) which states that my access has been disabled for “Up to 24 hours…” we’ll see how long that is.

Good thing G-Mail is my primary email client… good thing it’s Friday afternoon!

Rotating images back in header http://benstrawbridge.com/wp/2005/09/24/rotating-images-back-in-header/ http://benstrawbridge.com/wp/2005/09/24/rotating-images-back-in-header/#comments Sat, 24 Sep 2005 14:53:39 +0000 benstraw http://benstraw.com/wp/2005/09/24/rotating-images-back-in-header/ I have had rotating images in the headers of all the other sections of my website, but when I set up wordpress I didn’t have time to set that up. I just used this script photomatt.net / scripts / randomimage from photomatt, and it works like a charm. The css background-image property is just set to the php file instead of an actual image. The change only took dropping in the script, changing one line of code in my css file and creating some new headers to match this blog theme.

Read this article to get yourself started.DOS Tips and Tricks
the idea of a computer that could “pull itself up by its own bootstraps” was once a novel idea. In fact, when this system of self-starting was first invented, it was called “bootstrapping,” which later got shortened to “booting.” (And that’s where that familiar bit of computer jargon comes from.)… trust me it’s good stuff.
